OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreation) Childcare
Outaskool provides before school, after school and school holiday programme care and recreation for children aged 5 to 13 years.
Our programmes are stimulating, positive and child-focused encompassing individual needs and interests that promote the developmental, emotional, intellectual and physical well-being of children.
Activities offered on a daily basis include, but not limited to:
- planned arts and crafts
- child-directed use of arts and crafts materials
- organised sport or active group game
- organised group quiet game or activity
- free use of games and equipment
- free outdoor play
- offsite excursions
Outaskool operates from 7:30am to 8:30am and 3:00pm to 6:00pm Monday to Friday during the term and between 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday during specified weeks of school holidays.
To ensure child safety is paramount, Outaskool is accredited by Child Youth & Family and Work & Income NZ thus complimenting the high quality care and recreation we provide so as to allow kidz to be kidz and parents to do adult stuff.

Having started, owned, operated and sold primary aged Outaskool childcare sites since 2001 – from home based to on-site school based, from aged five years to teen years specialising in before, after and school holiday programmes, we have significant knowledge, skills and experience to make us experts on providing peace of mind childcare, consultative advice or facilitate OSCAR training.
Brent is a past Board member for Redwood Primary School and the New Zealand OSCAR Foundation; Claire a past Board member for the OSCAR Network in Christchurch.
Our successful industry led uniqueness is evident with having cared for approximately 700 + primary aged children through attending an Outaskool programme.
